Review # 1 was written on 2016-07-05 00:00:00 Tapio Issakainen Barbara Crandall rushes through each of the major world religion noting their spread and the forces that brought change and division. Along the way she also notes how women's roles were changing and evolving through time within the religion. I love her idea of challenging people to recognize that what seem like immutable truths often only loo k that way at the present. If a person will just look back into history a little , then they can see that these constants are not as constant as they seem, and a shift in policy or doctrine toward a more equitable treatment of women is not beyond the sort of changes religions have made in the past and can make in the future. At times I did get bogged down in the details of dates and locations , but it was worth trudging through those parts to get the bigger picture.

Review # 2 was written on 2021-08-03 00:00:00 Chris Bierbaum The young Heidegger at his best. The world lost one of its great philosopher-theologians when Heidegger was bewitched (by his reading of Luther in 1921-22) into rejecting virtually everything having to do with ancient or medieval theology; we could have had another Przywara or von Balthasar, but instead ended up with a genius-level, but one-sided, philosopher.
