Truthfully, I did not know much about Jackie Robinson before reading this book. After reading this book I can honestly say that I know a tad more that I did before. I did not notice when I picked up this book in the library that it was written in purely Spanish. Luckily I could read fluent Spanish. Now this baseball player was in the times where Whites and Blacks were segregated. From this book I learned that he was the first black baseball player to join a professional team. He was certainly not accepted easily, he was bullied and spit at and much more, but he kept at it. He also came from a really poor family, but he was a humble kid. This book I think would be good for black history month. I honestly think this book was helpful because the pictures were so detailed, so it was a guide to me. It honestly helped so much because since I the book was written in Spanish I struggled in reading it because I was not used to the language as opposed to English. I would certainly recommend this book to young readers.

Ok, I wasn't aware that Robinson died so young at the age of 53.
