1. I believe Quinnie Blue belongs in the genre of traditional literature. 2. Quinnie Blue is the story of a grandmother's fond childhood memories. 3. a. One of the many strengths of the book Quinnie Blue is the voice and tone of the story. It is told in the happy-go-lucky voice of a young girl. b. I really loved the book Quinnie Blue because it told the story of a loving family that valued rich childhood experiences. Quinnie Blue's descriptions of childhood memories are told from a happy, loving point of view which is perfect for a children's book. I think this would be a great book to read to any elementary school class as it gives the reader feelings of warmth and happiness. c. Quinnie Blue, the little girl, is named after her grandmother, Quinnie Blue. The little girl uses descriptive words that immerse the reader in a sensory rich experience such as when Quinnie Blue says "then you were off again, running down the path to the tree with the swing, where your daddy pulled you way, way back and sent you soaring up into the air...".

This is the kind of book that makes a person wish that they'd thought to write it first, though they know that their own story would have turned out differently. This is a beautiful piece. It has a strong personal focus that lets the reader feel comfortably intimate with the author and subject. What I'm saying usually goes something like, "I feel like I know her even though I've never met either person involved." Strong descriptive writing with a pleasantly simple scaffolded framework that allows the writer to explore the depths of her relationship with her grandparent.
