Review # 1 was written on 2021-02-08 00:00:00 Marc Desaules Wow, I never expected to be the first person to rate or review something... WELP - I found this in a used book shop and thought, hey, that looks really unique. And it totally was, which is one of the things I loved about it. Can't say I've ever seen another collection of poetry about cattle raising in Florida. Another thing I loved about this was that I actually learned a lot! And not just from the poetry - there are little history inserts every couple of pages. And let's not forget the full page cattle-related illustrations, which were done by the author! Overall, this was pretty enjoyable and definitely something unique for my collection. I did have a few minor gripes with this: 1. Why so many punctuation errors? I got confused a couple of times because of misplaced/missing commas and periods. 2. It's no secret that I'm a free verse girl all the way, so sometimes when I read poetry that rhymes, it feels a little forced.

Review # 2 was written on 2016-04-02 00:00:00 Michel Roy Bought this on vacation in Key West knowing nothing about it or the author's work (I liked the cover), only thinking it would be an apropos souvenir. (Some people buy t-shirts from the places they visit. I buy books.) It turned out to be just okay. McGrath tends to favor longer poems in this collection, it seems. Perhaps that's his style and I'm just unawares. That's all right. There were some I liked, some I didn't quite get, and some great lines. Also a lot of big vocabulary words.
