Review # 1 was written on 2012-05-12 00:00:00 Daniel L Rothbard Read mostly for Lyn Hejinian's essay "Strangeness," which was cited in an essay on Armantrout & Niedecker and which I found v. exciting: Hejinian, quoting Stein ("One of the things that is a very interesting thing to know is how you are feeling inside you to the words that are coming out to be outside of you"), uses Jakobson's description of metonymy to explore how we might displace metaphor as the focal point of our reading practices, to foreground interrelationships in the text rather than relying on the "code" of metaphor. |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-11-29 00:00:00 Heather Canty Enjoyed the book a lot. It's really helped to make my view of poetry as so much more complex than I gave it credit for before. |
