Review # 1 was written on 2007-05-25 00:00:00 Richard Mac Dowell One of the more interesting neo-Gramscian pieces I've read. I especially love that he includes race in his Marxist framework in a very complex way and that he doesn't see hegemony as depriving the subaltern of all agency, which is why the entire focus of the book is on the ways in which struggles against hegemony are in a dialectical relationship with hegemony itself. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-06-28 00:00:00 Steve Wynne The Jamaica example serves to be a helpful historical analogy of the deeply ignored subject of counter-hegemonic movements in the (neo)globalized world. |
