Review # 1 was written on 2016-01-26 00:00:00 Chris Swink Frank Waters was one of the greatest writers to come out of the Southwest. He wrote fiction, history & memoir. The Woman at Otawi Crossing is the riveting story of Los Alamos & the Manhattan Project; Waters wrote the definitive book on the Hopi Indians of Arizona Book of the Hopi: The first revelation of the Hopi's historical and religious world-view of life. I just finished reading his memoir Of Time and Change: a Memoir in which he tells of his many relationships with the famous & not-so-famous artists & writers who lived in Taos, NM at the turn of the last century. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-06-13 00:00:00 Adam Walkover Frank Waters examines his world of northern New Mexico through a look at its water, air, mountains, spirits, and air. He looks with Indian eyes at his home. His observations are deep and spiritual. I learned about Frank Waters while I was visiting New Mexico. I stayed at the Frank Waters room at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House in Taos, and I was curious to find out more about this New Mexican author. I visited the Taos Book Gallery and found this nonfiction book along with a fiction book by Waters. |
