Review # 1 was written on 2019-01-24 00:00:00 Jimmy Donnel This slim book offers the profiles and brief histories of about twenty of the most familiar Indians, all were long gone before they were to be given the title Native Americans. The historical period ranges from 1610 to early 1900 and the profiles are pretty much in chronological order. Author Frank Waters, himself of partial Indian heritage and with a long highly regarded history of study and writing on Indian history, writes well balanced profiles. This is nicely written yet quick read, if you are thinking about digging a little deeper into Native American history this would be a good place to begin. It has several pages of bibliography. |
Review # 2 was written on 2021-02-18 00:00:00 Stacey Brunson Mr. Waters provides a deftly constructed well-researched panorama of those who with dignity and purpose fought in vain for the honor of their ancestry. |
