That's not the impression I got from this book at all. Whilst I am definitely not an expert on this subject, I am usually pretty good at sussing out bogus books. It's an account of a West Country Witch's practices in the Old Religion, and it's also an account of Witchcraft before Gerald Gardner (maybe this is why people don't like this book - it's an alternative to the mainstream!) Of course witchcraft has been around long before the current crop of New Agers and I have no doubts that is has been practiced in rural areas for centuries. Yes it frequently mentions the Great Rite as an integral part of the Craft - but then, most of the fluffy, new age books on witchcraft with pictures of the author as a pretty blond witch don't mention it all |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-02-24 00:00:00 Luanne Holden-boushey I adore the writing for this book. It is elegant to the point and powerful in what is presented. I recommend this book to all Wiccan's in training. |
