Review # 1 was written on 2015-06-06 00:00:00 Brigette Mcnew This book has everything that I look for crammed between its covers: theology, philosophy, and history (just enough). But as the title suggests it contains more: a pointedly pastoral and practical application of the above. Though I will be returning to these succinct and quite simple essays combining my favourite fields, I think that I will come back to it for the excellent insights into the Christian life and how those truths might be fleshed out in counselling. If you are unsure which essay to start on, then I would recommend, in this order: - Bonhoeffer on disappointment - Augustine on obsession - Luther on despair |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-07-19 00:00:00 Philip Gamarro A unique take on several past theologians. |
