Review # 1 was written on 2017-08-10 00:00:00 Yelizavet Kitaynik This book was heavy reading, but I'm glad I did. This book came to me as I was studying for a lecture on Hebrews, wanting to know what faith was. I poured over most of the book considering all of what was being presented regarding the various philosophies over the centuries and learned plenty while doing so. I especially enjoyed the section about Augustine, finding myself thinking "right-on" many times. But after that section I felt like the book turned more into a justification of a position against someone else's position - strange how it ended. Highly recommend this for anyone wanting to really consider from where our positions of faith come, just be prepared to put effort in. |
Review # 2 was written on 2019-04-09 00:00:00 Sharon Carpenter This book, unlike other "philosophical oriented" books, brings in and examines the history surrounding Christianity and how the ethics of Christianity have been affected and changed over the years due to many factors. This should be a mandatory read for any Christian who would like to know how their beliefs formed before being taught to them. |
