Review # 1 was written on 2019-08-01 00:00:00 Clement Hamilton For anyone wondering what the presidential pardon power is all about, this is a very informative book that gives the history of this constitutional power and then discusses some of the most famous or infamous ones. He believes that only after Watergate and the Ford pardon of Nixon do more recent presidents abuse this power for personal gain or repayment to friends and allies. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-02-12 00:00:00 Joanne Applegate A brief history of presidential pardons including the discussion during the formation of the US Constitution and its historical use. Interesting divide between how this power was used before Watergate and then post Watergate. The same questions the author poses in 2008 are relevant to today. |
