Review # 1 was written on 2019-12-15 00:00:00 Stephen Hook Overall the authors do a decent job of making the connection between bureaucracy and our democratic system of governance. There were several points where they weren't as clear as they could have been, there was a bit too much jargon as well - which makes this book one I most likely wouldn't recommend to someone without a basic foundation in the concepts/terms. The research related to school boards and passive/active representation was very interesting.

Review # 2 was written on 2017-02-06 00:00:00 Eric Schleicher The book is a brief guide of understanding the concept of bureaucracy. I read the Chinese translation edition, and the bibliography is useful.
