Beautiful book mainly about the houses that the main Bloomsbury group lived and worked in. From the London squares where Virginia and Vanessa Stephen first found independence to the country houses where married life and their careers became the focus. It's nice to have some of the lesser known group such as Carrington and Ottoline Morrell. My favourite house will always be Charleston but Monk's House is a close second.

This was a light casual read for me to get an idea of the 'feel' of Bloomsbury London in accompaniment with my reading of Woolf. I'd read a biography of Leonard Woolf and his involvement with Ceylon/Sri Lanka for the Kiriyama Prize a few years back and always was curious about him, particularly in regards to his supportive relationship to Virginia. As a writer, I always dreamed of having a Leonard Woolf as a husband (in fact, I wanted to write a play or song called "Be My Leonard Woolf."!) This book contains pictures and photographs of the artwork of many of the Bloomsbury artists so it made for a pleasant viewing as well as reading.
