The basic text is simple. Each page starts with Walk the dog, walk the dog, then has an action that dogs do, like scratch or dig or chase. The repetition would be perfect for little ones and the illustrations are bright and simple. It's in the pictures that the dogs are named, starting with Airedale, and working its way through the fox terrier and a pug. At the end, all 26 dogs get together. In the back, there's a little tidbit of information about each breed. I can see this as a good read-aloud for little children and I bet they're joining in on the "walk the dog" by the end. I can also see using it with a group of young kids and getting to act out some of the actions. It would be fun, if noisy.
