Full disclosure: I read this book as the text book for a course I took on commercial wiring and the teacher was abominable. That may have contributed to my dissatisfaction with Electrical Wiring Commercial. It's not that there isn't a lot of useful information, nor that this book is not informative. It's that you can read a chapter four times and still not be able to answer the review questions for that chapter. The writers are obviously knowledgeable on the topic of wiring commercial buildings, but they don't seem to have a grasp on explaining that to the reader. I can't really complain about the reliance on having readers refer to the NEC book because, ultimately, you will have to refer to said book a lot as an electrician, but it is kind of irritating. But I can and am definitely complaining about the almost total disregard for including the necessary information for a reader to understand the subject matter and answer those daggummed review questions. On the plus side, the inclusion of the blueprints gives you a hands on, real world opportunity to learn to read blueprints, understand what they're telling you and apply that knowledge. Also, as I mentioned, there is a great deal of useful information. There are a few errors and instances of contradictions, all of which would have been cleared up with a decent instructor. I hate to downgrade this book on the basis of that instructor's inability to instruct but, if I am, there you go.

I took a job in injury epidemiology after being in HIV/TB/STD/Hep C for a couple years. I was told this was considered the book to read to understand the field, so I read it. Despite it being pretty old, many things still hold true and it helped provide me with a better understanding.
