Review # 1 was written on 2020-11-20 00:00:00 William McNairy Life changing I have epigastric pain syndrome and there's not much medicine can offer in relief, I've tried all the different diets that claim to help GI distress and no matter what I do or don't do nothing really helped, I wish the ER doctors and my gastroenterologist would read this book because maybe they would've been able to offer me more than a "sorry, there's nothing that can be done". I used this book to write my own imagery scripts and then recorded myself reading them and I listen whenever I need relief but in writing my imagery scripts based on what I learned in this book it allowed for deep self exploration which found my pain was exasperated by a sense of helplessness and in my story I told myself of how I (as in my whole self) am sick. This has helped me separate from the sick role and the anxiety and anticipation of future pain flare ups. I now actually have fewer and milder pain flare ups now just knowing that I have my imagination as a tool and the self efficacy to use it. I have a master's degree in mental health counseling and I found this book to be at my level of understanding and an easy read but I can imagine it might be a bit more complex for a lay person. It felt like reading a master's level textbook and the price tells me it might just be one. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-11-20 00:00:00 Benedict Santos The book is outstanding! It has among the best imagery/hypnosis script I've read. The style of reading is very pleasant and clear. Definitely a must read for pain management. |
