I'm surprised that this book is not well-known. Maybe because the author died before he could finish the book so he is not a well-known critical pedagogue. But that should not stop anyone from reading it. His insights on the concept of power is so empowering that it should be central towards any discussion of empowerment. He also interviewed six educators and portrayed their experiences on trying to be empowering educators. These experiences reiterate the necessity for making empowerment central in education despite the huge obstacles we always face. It's a simple read yet powerful and encouraging in its message.

This book was really good actually, at first I had my doubts and it took me a while to get hooked, but it definitely opened my eyes to the ways in which other people lived. Grinnell really did care about the wellbeing of the Blackfeet in a time when many others did not care at all about indigenous peoples. I almost would recommend reading the ending part of the book first when it talks about their ways of life before the stories so you get context and understanding behind a lot of the terms mentioned within the stories.
