Review # 1 was written on 2019-02-20 00:00:00 Bonnie Lindsay Laura Ingalls Wilder's biography told by Amy Sickels as part of the "Who Wrote that" series for Juvenile Biographies. Did you know that she wasn't an author until she was 65? Did you know that she traveled 650 miles to the Ozarks with her family? Did you know that her stories are mostly autobiographical? Did you know that she wrote 9 books? Did you know that she has her own literary award named after her? Find out this and more! The sad part about the "who wrote that" series is that it takes the person's life and makes it VERY VERY DULL reading...There are a lot of photos of covers, Laura, her family, but jeez...it felt like I was making the 650 mile trek through the book.

Review # 2 was written on 2020-02-27 00:00:00 Martin Graham Such an amazing woman!!! It's interesting to learn how so different and often tragic how life was during Laura's time. She, Almanzo, and Rose went through many hardships such as losing their home due to a fire, being in debt, Almanzo's illness and disability (he had a stroke not long after recovering from diphtheria), and losing a baby. But they never lost hope. This teaches everyone to always be grateful for what they have in life. There was no such thing as TV or radios (until Rose was an adult), computers, phones (or lack thereof), or grocery stores like nowadays. People had to (literally!) build their own homes and grow their own food! I very much liked the part where Rose as an adult taught Laura and Almanzo many things that they never had when they were younger such as learning to drive a car, having a radio, new foods, etc. Highly recommend this book for people of all ages!
