Review # 1 was written on 2017-06-27 00:00:00 Brian Grace This book about Anne Frank goes through her life from in 1929 through 1945 when her father learned of her death and the diary that she had written. Good book for students that want to do research or learn more about Anne Frank, grades 3-6. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-12-04 00:00:00 Edward Edmonds The Story of Anne Frank, by Rachel Koestler-Grack Summary: This biographical book tells the story of the Frank family during the Nazi invasion. The author takes us from Anne's upbringing and childhood, to World War II, and then the horror the family faced trying to hide, then being captured and put into concentration camps. Finally we are left with what remains - Anne Frank's diary. Review: This biography is well organized and easy to navigate. I really enjoy the real photos and quotes scattered throughout - I think it gives off a more personal tone. There is a lot of information in this short book, but it all helps understand important historical events. Books to pair with: Rebekkah's Journey: A World War II Refugee Story, by Ann E. Burg Hidden: A Child's Story of the Holocaust, by Loic Dauvillier Key Battles of World War II, by Fiona Reynoldson I would use this text primarily during units involving the Holocaust/WWII. I could also revisit it as a mentor text for writing biographies. |
