This as been the only Junior John Adams book we have been able to get our hands on so far... This was a pretty good retelling of the second president. (John Adams happens to be one of my favorite founding fathers). I liked how it pointed out how hard he worked for America and he tried in all things to be self-less for America and do right for her. They did talk quite a bit about the contentions that went on between him and Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. This was a good treatment of this great man. At the end of the book there are some fun facts about the government. It always gives me goose-bumps when they point out how John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on July 4-on the 50th anniversary of our country.

I read this book with my 9-year-old daughter as part of our homeschool curriculum. I think this is a good age-appropriate book to use to introduce an elementary or middle school student to John Adams and some early American concepts. The book discussed Adams and his personality issues, but I think did not quite address his wife's role in his presidency enough. It also discusses his relationships and interactions with other founding fathers. I like that vocabulary words are in bold and included in the glossary.
