Review # 1 was written on 2015-08-26 00:00:00 Keg Griffee Although from the "Juvenile" section of the library, this book is rather complicated and I would place it into an extreme upper middle to high school reading level. (Note: Introductory Essay on Leadership by Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. is fantastic but especially complex requiring elevated reasoning skills) Lots of detail in the foreign negotiations of the Carter administration underscore this book, as opposed to a general information format of most juvenile biographies of presidents. Most middle school students reading this book would have to be on the higher end of literacy ability. It also covers some of childhood and the influence of his father, as well as some coverage of his local political runs in Georgia. The book is not arranged in chronological order--it skips all over the place. It begins with the hostage crisis and then ends with the hostage crisis, with everything else about Carter randomly placed in between. Does not cover years following the presidency. World Leaders Series by Chelsea House publishers. (Pre read for teaching Georgia history; save for later for modern Georgia/Post-WW II; required reading for HH. Call # GA JB Carter {pub 1989})

Review # 2 was written on 2021-02-16 00:00:00 Avenier Frank Great overview book of the life of Jimmy Carter for upper elementary through middle grades. This book was published by the Children's Press in 1995 so only includes the work of Carter through 1994. The book contains quite a bit of information and also a nice timeline of his life.Also contains some great photographs. (pre read for teaching Georgia history; required reading for HH and GH--some sections will need to be orally read to her)
