Review # 1 was written on 2011-06-13 00:00:00 Ian Knudsen If you want to have a good laugh, this is the right book for you. But if you actually want to prepare for an interview - it's not useful at all. The book is as every other book published by Vibrant Publishers - a shameless money grab. It's a compilation of googled interview questions from blogs and stackoverflow questions and answers. But the people who chose the questions and answers barely have an idea what they're talking about. If you aren't an experienced programmer in OOP, you'll only confuse yourself with the wrong answers given on many questions. Grammar mistakes are also persistent. To quote some random bullshit: "25: Explain the rationale behind Object Oriented concepts? Answer: Object Oriented Concepts form the base of all modern programming languages. Understanding the basic concepts of object-orientation helps a developer to use various modern day programming languages, more effectively." It's not actually the base of all modern programming languages. "35: Which are the languages which support OOP? Answer: There are several programming languages which are implementing OOP because of its close proximity to solve real life problems. Languages such as Python, Ruby, Ruby on rails, Perl, PHP, ColdFusion , etc use OOP. Still many languages prefer to use DOM based languages due to the ease in coding." Uhm, DOM based languages? RoR, Coldfusion are programming languages? "41: State about Java and its relation to Object oriented programming? Answer: Java is widely used and its share is increasing considerabl y which is partly due to its close resemblance to object oriented languages such as C and C++. Code written in Java can be transported to many different platforms without changing it. It implements virtual machine." C is a OOP language? Haaaardly. Note, not Objective-C. "It implements virtual machine." Ambiguous and most likely used wrong. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-12-04 00:00:00 Sara Woodbury A great overview of how to setup and manage the Mac OS X Server 10.4 platform. Not enough focus on Web and Mail for many people, but then the 10.5 version (also by Schoun) covers that and more. |
