Ancient Egypt, an educational novel, written by Shirley Jordan, focuses on Egypt 5,000 years ago. It exhibits scholastic information through pictures, original drawings, and primary sources. Jordan was able to correctly summarize hundreds of years, in just a couple pages, making it very interesting for the reader. This novel also explained the life of one of Egypt's most famous and dedicated queens, Cleopatra. Cleopatra feared that because Egypt's army and navy were weak, then the Romans would conquer them. She did everything in her power to help her country, even if it meant being Julius Caesar and Mark Antony's lovers. After realizing that she could no longer hold off the Romans, like many defeated rulers, she committed suicide. Another interesting fact I found was that many Egyptian women shaved their arms and legs, and tweezed their eyebrows. Furthermore, Egypt resembles Morocco in some ways that will later be mentioned. In conclusion, Ancient Egypt is an educational novel, which I would recommend to anyone who is interested in this civilization, as it is able to explain many events through art, primary sources, and maps, making it easier for the reader to understand the novel. Although Egypt and Morocco are near each other, there are several differences and similarities between ancient Egypt and Morocco. Just like Morocco, women in ancient Egypt cared a lot about jewelry and beauty, thus the fact that wealthy women in ancient Egypt wore silver and other metal and rock made jewelry would not surprise anyone. Egyptian women, similarly to Morocco, used kohl, a cosmetic used to draw a black line across each eye, and henna, a red dye used to color one's body. If you have ever been to Morocco, especially in Marrakesh, you might have seen women with henna on the palms of their hands, the soles of their feet, and even on their nails. Furthermore, ancient Egypt in its 3,000 years of history had thirty-one dynasties. Morocco, on the other hand, also was a monarchy, but it has eight, less dynasties than ancient Egypt. One last, but obvious difference between Morocco and Egypt is that Egypt possessed the biggest river in the world, the Nile River. It was the source of most of Egypt's food, which contrasts with Morocco, since Morocco's sources of most of its food are the farmers. As one can see, although Morocco and Ancient Egypt have different landscapes and resources for food, the women, in both of their civilizations mostly used the same beauty products, such as kohl and henna. In conclusion, I would recommend this novel to anyone who is interested in the Egyptian civilization, since it correctly explains how life was back then in an appropriate vocabulary for middle school and high school students. In my opinion, this novel would not be appropriate to younger children, since the vocabulary is difficult for their level. In addition, reading this novel can be really helpful to student who have a paper or any type of project on ancient Egypt, and who have waited until the last minute to write it, since it gives many details, but only puts the main information. Also, if the students have only a topic to create a project on, this novel would be perfect, since it is really well organized and each of the topics are in different chapters. Lastly, this novel can help students compare ancient Egypt to their country or to the 21st century, since there are many differences, but there are still some facts that are similar to now, which might surprise them. Thus, Ancient Egypt would be useful to anyone researching or interested in ancient Egypt.

Ancient Egypt is a nonfiction book written by Shirley Jordan. Ancient Egypt happened about 7,000 years ago. The book Ancient Egypt talks about the history of Egypt and what happened then. First, they were the nomads, those people traveled and move throughout out places trying to discover new things. Their kings were then called pharaoh. The first king Ancient Egypt had was called King Menes. Ancient Egypt well then build their first pyramid which was 2700 B.C. Thebes becomes the capital of Egypt 2160 B.C. I know my book is a non-fiction book for many reasons. First, it talks about a real subject which is Ancient Egypt. The scientist is trying to learn more about the Ancient times and is trying to find more hieroglyphics. Secondly, the book contains real facts and information. It also talks about people at that time and important events that happened then. Lastly, it talks about historical writings or objects found by scientist that talks about Ancient Egypt. The book Ancient Egypt contains a lot of facts about the history of Egypt. One fact about Ancient Egypt was that 1575 B.C Egypt got invaded by the Asian tribe Hyksos and they killed a lot of people. When the Asian tribe attacked Egypt it showed them horses chariots and bronze. Secondly, the first pyramid built in Ancient Egypt was called the Great Pyramid and was built for the King Cheops. Thirdly, Alexander the Great and his army conquered Egypt and other parts of the world, when he dies his general claims Egypt. Another fact is that the Egyptians had a hierarchy of important people. The most important one was the pharaoh, then was the scribes, the generals, the craftsmen, the peasants and lastly the slaves. Lastly, Egypt gets controlled by the Romans and it becomes part of the Roman Empire. I think that the authors topic is a really nice thing to be talked about. Ancient Egypt is a nice topic to be discussed by people because they are many different things to be spoken and there are many pieces of information about it. It is also an important choice because it is one of the most important subjects because it changed a lot of ideas and Egyptian wrote a hieroglyphics which gave scientists a lot of clues. I would recommend this book to people who loves the history of life and who wants to learn more about Ancient things that happened. It also describes really well and gives a timeline of important events that happened then, it also gives facts and objects that scientist found. This book is mostly for people who like to learn more about Egypt's history and people who like to learn more about scientist's discovery. The most disappointing part of the book was to learn that Asians tribe attacked Egypt and killed a lot of slaves' children's.
