Review # 1 was written on 2020-06-02 00:00:00 John Gonzalez Slim (104 pages) but very useful book discussing all aspects of being a library trustee - policy development, evaluating the programs, paying attention to the budget, etc. Highly recommended for anyone who currently is or is considering being a library trustee. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-07-14 00:00:00 James Fairchild So, it read like a textbook. But it wasn't too bad, because I was actually interested in what they had to say. I skipped around a lot, and sometimes skimmed entire pages in minutes, but I got the gist of the book. Education is a humane enterprise, not a factory to produce the same product over and over again. In order to create successful schools, we need to take the focus off of national standardized, high-stakes testing and keep accountability local. There are lots of ideas in there for school improvement, each which probably deserves its own book. A must-read for legislators, although they wouldn't spend the time on it. |
