The subtitle for this book is Genealogy for Beginners. I wouldn't exactly put it in that category. The very last chapter does address how to begin your genealogy work. The first five chapters are the history of early Indiana, including migrations. Subsequent chapters discuss different record types and their strengths and weaknesses. I would say that this is more intermediate, and a good companion book for a how to book. It does have some excellent information in it.

This is not a manual, and will not teach anyone how to do research, but this is just a good little book to give a little background to those of us with Indiana roots. Not a definitive account for anyone interested in intensive research, but is a good starting place. There were definitely some chapters that I enjoyed more than others, but if I recall, I didn't skip over anything. I want to go back and "revisit" this - it's one of those that might offer something second time around that didn't "jump out" first time around... I'm hoping it's as good as I think I remember.....
