Review # 1 was written on 2018-09-16 00:00:00 Eric Dixon A surprisingly good book for those who find themselves needing to deliver training without any training in doing so. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-06-01 00:00:00 James Glaser So not what I was expecting. (Probably because I ordered the completely wrong book. Meant to request "The Accidental Technology Trainer: A Guide for Libraries.") This one had too much emphasis on the business side of training, as well as the "obvious" chapters of organizing one's schedule, etc. One thing of interest was the list of ways that adults learn best in the workplace: Need to see the relevance of the training to their work Like to have some control over the learning experience Want to apply the training to their own experiences Want to be actively involved in the learning Learn best in cooperative situations Also, the author suggests that all training should follow this rotation: Tell --> Show --> Do --> Review I find this to be true for the computer classes I've been teaching. So this wasn't a total waste of time. |
