Review # 1 was written on 2018-05-10 00:00:00 Kirsten Rasmussen An excellent guide to increasing one's success, efficiency and success as an academic writer illustrated with insights from Rankin's work with faculty writing groups. I checked it out from the library and then purchased a copy to keep because while the insights aren't earthshaking that are practical and feasible. I hope to set up a faculty writing group for colleagues and will use this book as a guide. |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-09-08 00:00:00 Ron Stransky Rankin's book on writing is engaging and honest. Her belief in the power of editing and revision through working with a writing group comes through loud and clear. As a National Writing Project Teacher Consultant, I've had the opportunity to engage in writing response groups and fully believe that it is the best way to write. I'm glad to see her explain why working with a group when writing is so useful. I also appreciated her informal voice, as I felt she was sitting across from me in my living room discussing barriers to publication and encouraging me to break through them. Loved this book. When I am a professor, I will feature this as a recommended text for anybody wanting to write professionally. |
