This sourcebook offers players and DMs various rules and ideas for running characters of monster races. It would be a great resource for those so inclined. There are some help on how to handle things yourself, or you could just flip to the long appendix and use a monster class of your choice - lots of examples from the simple to the really exotic like celestials and golems. The book felt like it could do with another pass or two as there seems to be a number of inconsistencies and typos. Also, while the overall creativity and quality of the smaller sections of items, feats, spells, and prestige classes are okay, it seems to range widely from being very bland or generic to being pretty interesting. For example a prestige class called the Survivor, is about as generic as it gets and so without flavour. Still, if monsters as player characters is what your campaign needs, this book may give you the head start and the tools to run it.
