Review # 1 was written on 2015-02-27 00:00:00 Robert Turner I have not read that much by William Kittredge, but I did enjoy an earlier book of autobiographical essays, which overlap some with this book. In this short book, he tells of his earlier years growing up on a ranch in Southeastern Oregon and later coming back to manage that ranch, before giving it up to become a writer and professor at the University of Montana. Other chapters talks about his beliefs on environmentalism and writing. A final chapter is written by Scott Slovik who gives an overview of Kittredge's writing to American literature. |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-09-28 00:00:00 James Reeder Interesting, if not compelling, read. Some of the author's previous memoirs and ecological essays are reworked for this statement of his creed. The book contains the author's essay, a biography, and a bibliography of his writings. |
