Review # 1 was written on 2016-01-04 00:00:00 William Ellis I blundered into this one and should've at least flipped through it casually years ago before snatching it. Finally getting around to reading it, I realize this is a magisterial analysis of the technical aspects of the music of various 20th century composers. And that's about it. There's little biographical data, little discussion of their contexts (other than technical) and the role of their moments in shaping their work. Definitely not for the layman. A technician of this art might find it worthy of 5 stars.

Review # 2 was written on 2019-01-23 00:00:00 Charles Drinnon (sempre la stessa edizione di Das Rheingold) Siegfried è l'opera che mi sento di bocciare a priori. Purtroppo il protagonista è il personaggio meno interessante del mondo, in quanto non ha il minimo spessore. C'è una sorta di tentativo di porre l'accento sulla sua essenza di orfano, ma il tutto è lasciato al vuoto, perché si vuole esaltare la mera forza bruta, unita alla stupidità. Se solo Brunilde fosse stata un po' meno instupidita dall'amore in quest'opera probabilmente avrei salvato il finale
