Review # 1 was written on 2016-10-12 00:00:00 Andrew Atkinson This is interesting enough, my problem is it is a dozen essays that all say the same thing. His first book was formed on a trip across the ocean, he tried an adult book which sucked, he liked kids but didn't have any. Like most compendiums of essays about someone/ something (think the philosophy and _____ books) there are a few cool ideas the rest is just filler, the same article every 10 years, or the same article for the east coast and the west coast. He also likes cats. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-03-22 00:00:00 Lawrence Mulholland this is really 2 books. one is alma rubens drug-addled diary, and that is the best one as well. her own writing does not talk too much about her days as an early silent film star, but it is a sometimes harrowing look into what it was like to be a coke-head (or a snowbird) in the 20's and 30's. a really interesting read! |
