I started listening to radio in the early 60's, starting by logging long distance AM stations and moving on to shortwave stations. My first verification from Radio Havana Cuba in 1963. This book covers in detail shortwave broadcasting from 1923 - 1945 from the development of radio broadcasting, listener interest, shortwave listener clubs and stations. The book ends with international broadcasting during WWII. This is a wonderful book with attention to detail, good writing and wonderful illustrations. This was a nostalgic read since life and interference virtually stopped my listening hobby. The noise generated by computers, modems, and cable boxes has cut it off. I highly recommend this book as a detailed history of shortwave broadcasting.

An interesting account of the birth and development of shortwave radio broadcasting from the early 1920s to the end of World War II.
