Like many books by ex-military personnel, this book is a compilation of eye-witness accounts and condensed military reports. Very stiff and blunt at times, but the reader must go beyond the writing mechanics and understand this is an accounting of military action in a locale not reported n the mainstream publishing world. Having served in Thailand at many of the locations Glasser writes about, I couldn't help but feel a bit of pride swelling in my chest as he tells of the thousands who served in Thailand and the many hundreds who died there. The average reader has probably not heard any of this, except for the vague references to locations other than Vietnam mentioned in the movie "Air America." Not entertaining in the least. That's not the point. The point is to inform the public and that he does with detailed numbers and tales of action on another front in the longest war in American history.

My father-in-law's book about the Vietnam War in Thailand, where he was stationed. He experienced quite a bit of push-back from the American government when publishing this book and had a lifelong aversion to John Kerry for his involvement in censoring it.
