Review # 1 was written on 2019-02-28 00:00:00 Jenni Ferro When I picked up this little book I didn't realize it was part of series written for young people about different careers. (My First Year as a Teacher and My First Year as a Lawyer are also part of the series, but don't know if there's more.) It didn't matter when I found this out, I still really enjoyed the book. This is a series of essays written by doctors detailing their first year in practice and the things they learned that medical school doesn't teach you!! It covers a lot of different experiences, from being a general practitioner on a Reservation to being an ER doctor in the Bronx. There's even a physician couple who each wrote an essay about their personal experiences. It was very entertaining and informative, and if you have any interest in learning about how doctors think and practice, you will enjoy this book.
