This book also starts to get young children familiar with numbers. Throughout the book the ants are marching one by one to get out of the rain. And the baby ant always lags behind. This song is so catchy and a great book to read to young children. The ants go marching one by one is a fun interactive song book for children to enjoy. The song book also has numbers which is a good source of an integrated curriculum. The illustrations throughout the book look very realistic. The ants look cartoon like but also a bit realistic. This book would be so fun to sing along with children. It can also be relatable to children because they may do some of the things that the little ant does. One activity to go with this book is to have the children act out this song. They could march along in a circle around the classroom and they all could act out being the little ant that gets stuck behind doing something. Another classroom activity to do with this book is to have each child draw a picture of a certain number of ants in a row marching and then they could write a sentence about it.

Review # 2 was written on 2008-10-28 00:00:00 Robert Coy For some strange reason, this particular book has been an absolute favorite for my boys. Though I should quantify that with the fact that it's been a favorite of theirs ... for me to read aloud. There's nothing particularly special here. It's the song (a couple of verses slightly different than what I grew up learning), with fun pictures. When reading it aloud, I've tried very hard to actually read it, rather than sing it. On occassion we all break into song as well. But that's what's great here...we read/sing it together! What more can you ask than to have children and a parent bonding over a bool. Lots of fun.
