Review # 1 was written on 2014-01-28 00:00:00 Michael Stanley Lots of useful information about bidding, drawings and especially specifications as well as about working with contractors for large scale projects that I did not learn in school. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-12-28 00:00:00 Adolfo Villegas Ortiz While I was searching for a novel set in Machu Picchu (or connected to it in some way) I noticed this title on the library catalogue and decided to borrow it as well. It's an excellent book, despite the key theme of civil engineering being outside of my interests. Nevertheless, I found it fascinating - there's quite a bit of history, both about the Inca civilisation and about the discovery of Machu Picchu in 1911 by the archaeologist Hiram Bingham, and enough written about the process and effects of the building in what was accessible to my level of knowledge. Also, nearly every double page spread has three photographs (b&w) - fascinating! |
