Review # 1 was written on 2015-05-25 00:00:00 Kirk Bartels 'Carefully structured around the OCR specification'. The fault in that descriptive insight is the lack of a prefix on 'carefully'; "un" would perhaps fit. I say this because, whilst much of the specification is indeed covered, much of it also isn't. What makes it worse is that in each chapter's "Learning objectives", promised outcomes are not covered! For example, the specification asks for 'comparisons in earnings and employment structure between the UK, the rest of the EU and other selected non-EU economies'. The textbook states that by the end of Chapter 5 I should be able to 'compare the UK labour market with that of the EU and other countries'. Things seem good right? Well no, they're not, because the book doesn't address it. So if you plan to buy this book for it to cover the specification and stick to its objectives, understand that you'll be somewhat let down on multiple occasions. |
