With engaging photographs and insightful first-hand accounts by the bomb technicians themselves, this book is an excellent read for both young students and adults alike who are interested in gaining a better perspective and appreciation into one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Chronicling the tasks of disposing live ordnance left behind from World War II and other deadly conflicts around the world. Highlighting the hazards of booby traps and the insidious nature of IED's as well as the daunting mission of defusing them before it's too late. If you've ever wondered what it's like to defuse danger, this book is a great introduction to the world of the bomb technician!

Review # 2 was written on 2014-03-27 00:00:00 J�rgen Alexander Lerbakk I'm a fan of DK books. They're simple. They're informative. They're cheap. If your child is too young to read, they're perfectly good read-aloud books. What more can you ask for when stocking your kid's library? This is about a fire rescue. It's a little frightening for younger readers - after all, there's a fire and a kid possibly trapped inside - but nobody gets hurt so the fear turns into excitement. I do wish, though, that the DK publishers would stop putting "fact boxes" on their pages. If the information cannot be integrated into the main story, it should be saved for a special page at the end. It's too distracting for early readers to be pulled out of the main text to read a little box on the side.
