The Purpose and Power of Praise and Worship tells readers about the significance and role of Praise in restoring man's original position in creation. When God created man, the primary purpose he had in mind was to have a family that enjoys fellowship with him. Thus, he created a being (man & woman) in his likeness and put it in Eden (an environment where God lives on earth). Because of God presence in Eden, man didn't need any workups to get into God since he is already there. But because of disobedience, man is cast out of this environment where he is designed to function to a different environment which we currently in. Since then, man has to work out to bring this environment to the earth and the way to bring it is through Praise. Praise prepares the altar for God presence in the earth. This has been the case for Mosses, Joshwa, David, etc. The book states that it's no surprise that Judah is selected out of the 12 tribes to be favored in ruling because 'Yadah-the root word for Judah' means 'to praise.' This is why the bible tells us to praise every time in Ephesians 5:20 Praise can take different forms which include singing, shouting, making a joyful noise in the midst, thanksgiving, standing, clapping, kneeling, laughing, dancing, so on. These forms of praise are exercised in the Bible to bring God presence to people. According to the book, praise must be exercised in private and should progress to congregational level as in the case of King David. The book also states that praise has Seven steps it follows, although it is not used in the strict order in the Bible. The steps are thanksgiving, hand extended thanksgiving, praising in abandon, shouting, making hymns, blessing God, and singing own hymns. When these steps followed, they allow God to come to us. But as God is holy, a praiser must be holy in the first place before starting up the steps. Once man initiates praise, worship follows, which is God's response to praise. As a result, worship is dependent on God whether he wants to respond to our initiative. But when God answers, worship is released and it contains peace, joy, mercy, power, victory, wisdom, rest so on., which is the environment a man missed in creation, i.e., Eden.

Many times as a Christian people run after God, chasing Him with a long list of prayer requests. God doesn't mind hearing about our needs, but He wants our praise and worship. That is when He just comes in! This book teaches all about praise and worship and how to get to the place where God just comes in! This book really opened my eyes to many things! God used it to deepen my walk with Him through praise and worship!!
