Review # 1 was written on 2019-08-17 00:00:00 Raymond Dzik I'd be willing to bet that Miss Manners has copies of every edition of this book in her library! This is a fascinating book to read in 2011. Much of the finer detail of its contents, are now only of essential reading to the historical novelist or researcher. However, a proportion is surprisingly still of invaluable use. For example, on pages 69 to 72; the pronunciation of certain surnames; the knowledge of which (or lack of) continues to mark the speaker as being either 'in' or 'out'. |
