A brief history of the explorations of Henry Stanley and David Livingstone in Africa and the beginnings of the scramble for Africa and it's wealth. Ivory, rubber and palm oil were three major reasons for the colonization and forced African labor back in the nineteenth century. Today, it is rubber, cobalt (for lithium-ion batteries) and crude oil, primarily, that drive corporate exploitation of the African continent.
