I would have given this 3.5 stars if I could, but it is closer to a 4 than a 3. A fair story with good action and plotting until the end. I would have deducted 1/2 a point for the incomplete ending. We never found out what happened to the jerk Senator, and did they get the meningitis under control, and did things smooth out at the mine? Should have had a wrap up chapter.

Another great Ella Clah mystery. Each book that I read in this series gets better by leaps and bounds. I also really enjoy all the details about the Dineh and the various paths in life that the people are taking. This story in particular reiterates the differences in standing and regard. It also still has a slight understory about skinwalkers which is still not one hundred percent resolved from it's first mention in the first book of this series. In addition to that we continue to see the tally grow in terms of Ella's extremely bad luck with the tribal police department's vehicles. The roles of main and secondary characters continue to grow. Especially those of Dr. Carolyn Roanhorse and Ella's assistant cop Justine Goodluck. There is also the introduction of a new character who seems likely to be a possible romantic interest for Ella in future books. Overall the story was excellent and so now I will start the next one with great anticipation.
