I really enjoyed learning more about how Waushara County looked back in the 1800's and early 1900's. It was fun to see some of the recognizable surnames as well. However, it doesn't feel comprehensive. This book tends to focus on a couple families within each community. I really wish it had more. Why did Poy Sippi and other commmunities fail to become larger towns? That was the question I asked myself as I read. It was unfortunately left unanswered.

It was rather boring but I still like the pictures. It seemed like it was the same thing, page after page. I think it would have been nice if the definition of early Snohomish could have broadened to say, 1950. Perhaps images of how the town changed with the depression and WWII would have made it more interesting. Also, my complaint about these Images of America are always about the white people. I want to hear more about the tribes, even if there are not many pictures. I do want to give kudos to the author for mentioning the Chinese ppl though. Of the IoA books I've read, this is the first time I've heard them mentioned. But I still want to know more, even the stuff the ppl of these towns are embarrassed about today. The true image of America is not as one-sided as shown.
