You can actually read this book cover to cover. The writing style is "familiar", with hints on how to remember things. For example, when talking about Robert Frost, they say, "He was a creep to his wife and kid." Not exactly something you would expect in crib notes, but a lot of fun. Even reading about things I already know and remember, I'm learning a lot. Even with the weight of it, I'm taking it in my (big) purse to have it on the train ride.

I was hoping there would be more about the author's personal process in recreating the oak chest, as mentioned in the Introduction. It was, however, an interesting historical read, giving a broad perspective of the daily life of wood-working craftsmen in 1600s Ipswich.
