Synopsis : Sturdy board books introduce very young children to the amazing variety of country animals with chunky shapes, bold lines, and crayon-bright colors. Review : A very sweet, simple introduction to animals that might not appear in everyday situations for toddlers. A wonderful way to begin building vocabulary with nice "folksy" illustrations to capture attention. Each animal has their own page and the bright, clear colors are easy to focus little eyes on. The text is bold, simple and clear which will make early reading all the more rewarding for children just starting to put those ABC symbols together. This book is part of a four series collection that includes Farm, Garden and Pet animals. I'd recommend them all for a new parent's collection. Their sturdy, board book construction will ensure they'll be around for many years of enjoyment. Critical Reviews :"Younger children prefer uncluttered pages and too much on a page is a sure way to lose their interest." and "Lucy Cousins (of *Maisy* fame) has done an excellent job picking animals that don't usually appear in young children's' books."(Amazon.com)
