Plus, it gives a great overview of North American deserts and the origin of the Sonoran Desert, in particular. I also enjoyed reading about the various plant adaptations (remembering all that I learned in school...). For the most part, the color plant photos are extremely useful for the layperson. I noticed that there were two grass species included, probably because they are the most easily identifiable; but would have liked the book to include a bit more information on the invasive species instead of just a comment that a particular plant "is not native". Overall, a very useful book. Probably best for use by those not too familiar with plant identification via dichotomous keys (since they aren't used). |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-05-17 00:00:00 Thomas Harrison this book makes it very easy to identify flowers because the flowers are arranged in the book by color. Find a purple flower, just go to the purple section! The photos are excellent and easy to see. Highly recommend this book. |
