Review # 1 was written on 2013-07-19 00:00:00 Giancarlo Buonamici A good book about how China's central state thought work fell apart in the Deng reform era, but it's got to be a bit dated now, being almost twenty years old and now that so much has changed in this realm under Xi's rule. Argues that the liberal public sphere is not an automatic result of the breakdown of the totalitarian propaganda state. Instead, China has chaos in the realm of public opinion.
