Review # 1 was written on 2020-10-22 00:00:00 Sarah Shifflett Six years after "Reclaiming Identity," most of our familiar FMS authors have returned for another go. Thankfully, they since have been able to cast off the two mundane repetitions they were earlier prone to. (See my review on "Reclaiming Identity;" I'm too lazy to reproduce the whole thing here.) They again seem to lack a building-upon feel, but at least this time the introduction does not otherwise try to make such a claim. (Or so I remember.) The editing and premise of this book were much better done than the first. My only gripe, once more, is a lack of comprehensible explanation of PPR before getting deeper into the matters, branching off into such topics as race, sexuality, and gender. However, I'm not sure if I'm griping anymore about the lacking explanation in this book particularly, or of PPR-related materials in general.

Review # 2 was written on 2013-12-20 00:00:00 Jaime Ryan Heintz I love this book - so many great essays in here. A great crash course in various elements of identity construction and presentation. I read this as part of a course on the rhetorics of diversity and their classroom applications. The essays in here inform my classroom practice by helping me to be more conscious of my students' intersecting identities. Ultimately, I hope that continued study in this field will allow me to better facilitate the formation and expression of positive and engaged classroom identities in my students.
