The Book Surveillance The Impact On Our Lives, has a self explanatory title. This Book is all about how the technology used to spy on people is advancing faster and now we are losing our privacy. For example if you were on the phone with one of your friends, the government could be listing to your every word even if you did nothing wrong. Another example of the Government and Companies spying on you everyday is website cookies. These cookies come from websites you have visted and then track what websites you visit. Cookies then send those websites back to companies so they can base advertisements off those cookies. these companies have complete access to what websites you have visited and when. People have to realize if they go on National Football League.com it's no coincidence that ads for pop warner football appear on your screen after this. Over years of computer use companies profile you based on the sites you have visited, they then base ads off of this. Facebook is now selling your information to companies so they can better advertise to you. I personally disagree with the notion that someone should be able to sell your personal information. In the twenty first century that brings up the question what is personal information. people have suppose to have a certain amount of privacy other than medical information nothing else is private. pretty soon I will be able to look up information on someone I just met. They already have these services for looking at people's criminal records and pretty soon it could be more than just a criminal record. this is a serious problem and we need to work to stop the government from being in our business.

I though this book was going to be all about the military surveillance due to the cover of this book, but it was also about local police and pedestrian safety too. This book by MccGwire was really organized with the paragraphs and wasn't too straight forward to the facts to bore the reader. This book was interesting and rich of facts like how the police have hidden cameras so the criminals don't know they are being watched. Also the army sometimes joins with the police to bust criminals who grow illegal plants like coca (used to make cocaine). I would recommend this book the only people who like CCTV, cameras, or other surveillance tools. This book will most likely bore people who aren't interested in surveillance.
